  • New Hours
Beginning May 12, the Clerk's Office in Bangor and Portland will be open to the public 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The front counter in both locations will be closed from 1:00 p.m. -1:30 p.m. to allow staff a lunch break, but we will still be available by phone during that time. This change results from a recent study of counter traffic conducted in both locations over a two-month period, and we believe it will help the Court continue to maintain the excellent service its customers have come to expect.

  • The United States Bankruptcy Court, District of Maine is pleased to announce the launch of its new and improved court website. The information is now presented in a simpler and cleaner format. Please poke around the new site and let us know what you think.

  • SELF-SCHEDULING OF HEARINGS HAS ARRIVED!! Effective January 25, 2008, attorneys may self-schedule routine matters. Chief Judge Kornreich and Judge Haines on January 25, 2008, signed a new Standing Order that allows counsel to set routine matters for hearing in the Bankruptcy Court without first calling the Clerk's office to obtain a hearing date, as had previously been required by Local Rule 9013-1(d)(1). Counsel wishing to self-schedule routine matters should go to the Court website's Hearings page for instructions, examples of "routine matters," and hearing dates for both judges. Please note that all other requirements for scheduling hearings (e.g., D. Me. LBR 9013-1(d)(2) (movant's responsibility to ensure that chosen hearing date allows sufficient time for filing, notice, and response); and D. Me. LBR 9013-1(d)(4) (governing minimum time between filing of motion and hearing date, as well as requiring that response date provided in notice be "no later than three (3) business days prior to the hearing")) remain intact.

  • On December 17, 2007, changes to LBR 2004-1(b) were adopted by the district court. Local Rules.
